Children’s Village

kinderdorpThe children’s village is a place where the orphans can live safely. They receive good care by one of the ‘mothers’ with whom they live in a house on the compound. The children are getting 3 meals a day and go to school every day on weekdays. They receive 7 years of primary school and then go, depending on their level, to either the secondary or the vocational school. There the children receive another 4 – 6 years of education. All the teachers on the schools are local. After the education the children will be ready to live a independant life in the society of Uganda.

The children’s village consists of sleeping accommodation, shower- and laundry rooms, primary, secondary and vocational school, a church, a medical clinic with a maternity ward, a dentist and a first aid unit. The clinic takes care of the children in the village, but is also open to those living in the surrounding areas. A lot of children are traumatised therefore they receive next to physical care also spiritual care. Through love and acceptance the self esteem and vision for the future grows.
