The charity Children’s Welfare Mission is a Christian Aid organisation which has its focus on the most vulnerable children in Uganda – the orphans. The children are cared for in the children’s village Namugongo. There they receive- next to a loving home which they deserve – all the necessary medical and spiritual care and primary and secondary / technical education so that they will be ready to become independent citizens later on.
Children’s Welfare Mission helps the children in their basic needs, so that they will be able to live a full-fledged life. We would like to give these orphaned children a warm home. A place where they receive love and protection, where they can come to know Jesus. We would like to see these children grow up to be healthy responsible individuals, who are mature in Christ and are able to provide them selves in their own needs, in every area of their lives.
GOAL
The children’s village does not only provide in the daily needs and the accommodation of the children, but they also receive education from primary school through secondary school. These schools are situated within the children’s village. Because of these schools the children are able to function independently in the society after graduating.
The children’s village has a medical clinic with a maternity ward, a dentist and a first aid. The clinic takes care of the children in the village, but is also open to those living in the surrounding areas. A lot of children are traumatised and therefore receive next to physical care also spiritual care. The children receive direct help. We know and take care of every child. Through love and acceptance the self esteem and vision for the future grows.
The help is provided by local employees, who are all responsible for their own department. They report to the Dutch financialmanagers, Yme & Fokla Holwerda, who live in the children’s village.

The charity Children’s Welfare Mission acts from a deep emotion and love for their fellow human beings, especially the orphans. She lets herself be guided by the Bible, where God asks from us to take care of the widows and orphans.
